Mayura Pancha Deepa - Handcrafted Brass Five-Flame Oil Lamp · Double Peacock Arch · Suspended Bell · Antique Gold
"Five flames. Two peacocks. One bell."
The Pancha Deepa — the five-flame lamp — is one of the most ancient and complete sacred objects in Indian ritual life. Five flames in a single lamp represent the five elements, the five senses, the five directions of offering in aarti. Every temple in India has one. Every devotional household owns one. The Mayura Pancha Deepa takes this ancient form and frames it in one of the most beautiful architectural compositions in the Kanasu lamp collection — two peacocks facing each other, their necks arching upward and inward to meet at the centre, where a small brass bell hangs suspended between them.
The five flames are distributed across the composition: two large square-form outer diyas on individual turned pedestals stand at the far left and right — wide, stable, their square rims catching the light at each corner. Three smaller round diyas are arranged in a row at the centre, held between the two standing peacocks — the central flame directly beneath the suspended bell, the two flanking flames just inside the peacocks' bodies. When all five are lit, the warmth spreads outward and inward simultaneously, the peacock arch glowing from within and the bell at the centre catching reflections from all five flames at once.
The peacocks themselves are cast in extraordinary detail — scaled bodies in the fish-scale engraving tradition, scrolled head crests, curved beaks meeting at the central bell mount, the entire form cast as one piece with the arch arms that sweep up and outward from the pedestal base between the diyas. The finish is a deep antique gold — the shadows in every engraved recess darkening to near-brown, the raised surfaces holding the warm brass tone that glows deepest in candlelight.
Light all five. Place it at the centre of your Diwali arrangement, your pooja room shelf, or your festival table. The Mayura Pancha Deepa does not need anything around it. It is already complete.
| The definitive Diwali lamp in the Kanasu catalogue. The Kanasu collection includes eight lamp pieces. The Mayura Pancha Deepa is the one built specifically for Diwali — five flames, the complete sacred number, in the most ceremonially significant lamp form in Indian puja tradition. Place it at the centre of your Diwali arrangement. Light all five wicks at once. The Mayura Pancha Deepa will hold the centre of the evening. |
